Industrial Cyclotron Center
The Industrial Cyclotron Center is a state-of-the-art facility in the Kyiv region that will produce radiopharmaceuticals to meet national and regional demand. It includes an industrial cyclotron, radiochemical lab, and GMP-compliant quality control lab, and aims to reduce Ukraine’s dependence on imported isotopes, support nuclear medicine, and create jobs.

In a bold step toward strengthening Ukraine’s healthcare infrastructure and scientific capabilities, State Enterprise “USIE IZOTOP” is launching an ambitious new initiative: the Industrial Cyclotron Center, set to be built in the Kyiv region.
A Vision for National Health Security
Currently, Ukraine relies heavily on foreign suppliers for radioactive isotopes—essential components used in nuclear medicine for both diagnosis and treatment. This dependency poses risks due to the limited shelf life of many isotopes, which often decay before they can be delivered from abroad.
The Cyclotron Center will change that. With a $51.5 million investment, the project is designed to establish domestic production of radiopharmaceuticals, reducing reliance on imports and ensuring a stable, high-quality supply of life-saving materials.
What’s Inside the Center?
Spanning nearly 3,000 square meters, the center will be outfitted with cutting-edge facilities, including:
- Industrial Cyclotron – A powerful machine for producing radioactive isotopes tailored to medical applications.
- Radiochemical Laboratory – Equipped for the safe synthesis and formulation of radiopharmaceuticals.
- GMP-Standard Quality Control Lab – Ensuring every product meets international standards for safety and efficacy.
Additionally, the project includes the training of specialized personnel, ensuring long-term sustainability and operational excellence.
Impact Beyond Borders
The benefits of this initiative go far beyond Ukraine. Countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Armenia, and Georgia, which currently lack cyclotron centers, stand to gain from reliable access to advanced nuclear medicine materials. The center is expected to create over 30 jobs and significantly boost Ukraine’s export capacity in the medical technology sector.
Advancing Science and Sustainability
The Cyclotron Center also opens doors for scientific collaboration, offering shared research opportunities and promoting innovation in radiation technologies. It’s a step that supports Ukraine’s Sustainable Development Goals—especially in health, innovation, and employment.
Leading with Experience
The project is guided by Volodymyr Kalachyk, Director of SE “USIE IZOTOP,” who brings extensive experience in environmental safety and infrastructure development from his previous leadership at the Chornobyl Special Combine Enterprise.
